Consults

Lactation medicine care is designed to be ongoing and supportive — more similar to well-child or prenatal follow-up care than a one-time consultation. Feeding, milk supply, infant growth, latch, maternal healing, and pumping needs can all change quickly in the early weeks and months. For this reason, multiple visits are recommended to monitor progress, adjust feeding plans, support parent goals, and help ensure a smooth, sustainable feeding journey for the dyad.

Initial consultations – A 1.5 – 2 hour visit, providing time to support you and your baby through any breastfeeding challenges. The visit includes a review of your history, a focused physical exam for the parent, and a physical exam of the baby with assessment of oral function, including tongue-tie evaluation. We’ll observe breastfeeding (including weighted feeds), troubleshoot any barriers, and evaluate pumping, including proper flange fit, if desired. You’ll receive a personalized plan of care that can be shared with your primary care providers. Follow-up care and scheduling will be discussed at the completion of the initial consult.
