Village Lactation Medicine sprouted from a desire to find a comprehensive lactation medicine home where both baby and parent can get breastfeeding and lactation help with physician level care.
“After having my first baby, I knew I wanted to breastfeed, but I wasn’t prepared for how difficult it turned out to be.”
What I imagined would be rainbows and butterflies turned out to be poor weight gain for baby, pain for mama, and many tears for both. I felt unprepared and defeated.
There was a yearning for a medical provider who was all-encompassing and could help both my baby and me, but such care wasn’t available from any single provider.
We needed a village.
With support, perseverance, and research, I was able to successfully breastfeed. I found my village and lactation medicine became my passion.
The experience fueled my desire to help others in similar situations by becoming that all-encompassing provider who could offer a village approach to lactation care.
The mission of Village Lactation Medicine is to improve lactation care and education, while empowering parents in their journey to nourish their babies with human milk.
