Lactation Medicine Consults
Initial consultations last 1.5 to 2 hours, providing time to support you and your baby through any breastfeeding challenges. The visit includes a review of your history, a focused physical exam for the parent, and a physical exam of the baby with assessment of oral function, including tongue-tie evaluation. We’ll observe breastfeeding (including weighted feeds), troubleshoot any barriers, and evaluate pumping, including proper flange fit. You’ll receive a personalized plan of care that can be shared with your primary care providers.
Follow-up consultations are either via telemedicine (30 minutes) or in the comfort of your home (60 minutes), intended to address lactation/breastfeeding concerns that are new, continuous, or worsening.
